As a wedding photographer, being asked to capture someone’s big day is always a huge honor. But when another wedding photographer asks you to document their wedding, it feels like an even bigger privilege. George, an incredibly talented photographer himself, trusted me to capture his and Tess’s special day. From the moment I arrived at Castlewood Vineyard in East Devon, I knew this day would be special.

Castlewood Vineyard, nestled in the East Devon countryside, was the perfect setting for their unique, festival-themed celebration. Guests arrived at this remote and intimate location, grabbing drinks from the Finn Studio mobile bar, setting the relaxed, festival-inspired tone right away. George, accompanied by his closest friends and family, was all smiles as they awaited Tess's arrival.

When Tess arrived, she did so in true festival style—riding in an off-road vehicle with her best people by her side. It was a perfect entrance, capturing the adventurous, free-spirited nature of the day. The ceremony itself took place in front of guests who were seated on hay bales, which added a rustic and cozy touch.

Once George and Tess were married, they took a quiet moment in the nearby forest. Capturing this private moment was one of the highlights of the day for me. The stillness of the forest, the soft rain falling through the trees, and the peacefulness of their first few minutes as newlyweds was a beautiful contrast to the lively celebration that followed.

We headed into the forest again for the confetti toss. Throughout the rest of the day, the rain only seemed to add to the festival vibe, with guests swapping heels for wellies and making the most of the day.

The marquee, now the hub of the celebrations, was a hive of activity. Guests lined up at the food truck from Habibi’s, serving health-conscious fast food, while Finn Studio kept the drinks flowing, including Castlewood Vineyard’s very own sparkling wine. Laughter echoed throughout the space, and as the speeches began, the room filled with even more warmth.

As the evening unfolded, guests hit the dance floor, dancing the night away until their feet were covered in mud. There was something magical about seeing everyone so carefree, fully immersed in the moment.

George and Tess’s wedding was truly unforgettable. The unpredictable weather only added to the day’s charm, making their celebration at Castlewood Vineyard feel like a true festival of love and laughter.
