Wedding Celebrations in Dartmoor

From the other side of the world in Hong Kong, Jake and Natalie got in touch with me on Instagram to organise some wedding photos in Dartmoor. One thing I absolutely love about Asian wedding culture, is they tend take their pre-wedding photoshoots seriously! Jake and Natalie's official wedding is in Hong Kong, months after our photoshoot. Both Jake and Natalie had previously lived in South Devon, and the area represented a special time in their relationship. Therefore, it made sense to fly to the UK, bringing their full wedding outfits and rings, on a pre-wedding holiday and get some professional photos.

I met them at the incredible Bovey Castle, one of Devon's most luxurious hotels and wedding venues. Hair and Make-up was done by the experienced Melanie MUA. Like many days in 2024, nature had insisted that this day would grey and rainy. Although this made it a bit chilly, especially for Natalie, it was the UK that they remembered. We sheltered inside for a little while, before eventually venturing out with my trusty clear umbrellas. Bovey Castle and its gardens made for a stunning backdrop, as Jake and Natalie eased into the process of being photographed.

Satisfied with our photos at the castle, we got on the road in search of some iconic Dartmoor scenery. As we arrived at our location, the rain finally stopped. That said, it was extremely muddy! Luckily, Natalie was secretly wearing wellies under her dress, which I absolutely loved! As this wasn't their real wedding, we were able to just have some laughs in Dartmoor and enjoy the beautiful scenery. To celebrate, I brought them a bottle of Prosecco to spray all over me and my camera, which made a great finale to the photoshoot!
