If I had to sum up my approach to Wedding Photography in three core elements, it would be:

  1. Cinematic
  2. Authentic
  3. Inspired by Nature

So, what does that actually mean for your wedding photos?

Scroll down to explore each element.

Cinematic Wedding Photography with a Natural, Documentary Approach

1. Cinematic Wedding Photography

As a cinematic wedding photographer, I strive to create an immersive experience where your photos transport you back to the true emotions and real moments of your day. I focus on storytelling wedding photography that’s both visually stunning and deeply personal. I think carefully about light, framing, colour and contrast, drawing inspiration from film and fine art to bring a subtle sense of drama and atmosphere to your gallery.

From soft window light during prep to golden hour portraits, I use natural light and thoughtful composition to elevate the everyday into something that feels quietly cinematic. It’s less about staged moments, and more about using artistry to highlight the real ones.

My Wedding Photography Editing style

I keep a consistent look across all my work, with natural, subtly muted colours, soft textures, and rich shadows that create a style that’s modern and cinematic, yet timeless and nostalgic. Every image is carefully edited to preserve natural tones and ensure smooth, balanced skin tones throughout your gallery.

2. Authentic Wedding Photography

On your wedding day, I focus on capturing your day naturally and unobtrusively. I take a relaxed wedding photography approach, gently guiding where needed (like portraits or group shots), but otherwise blending into the background.

Using a reportage style, I let the day unfold naturally. I'm always ready to catch the tears, laughter, and joy that make your story unique. I use ambient light as much as possible and only bring out a flash when necessary.

The result is natural wedding photography that captures the true spirit of your celebration, filled with connection, feeling, and moments you didn’t even realise were happening.

3. Wedding Photography Inspired By Nature

When I photograph weddings, I take inspiration from the beauty of the surroundings. Whether it's the wild coastline, a stunning countryside venue, or a peaceful garden setting, I draw from the landscape to create artistic wedding photography that fits the natural beauty of your venue. You'll see this throughout my portfolio.

I often find that natural light, the weather, the season, and the location are the quiet heroes of your gallery. From golden-hour portraits to rich, rain-soaked moments, these elements shape the look and feel of every photo. It's all part of creating timeless and natural wedding photography that feels grounded and romantic.

Also, if I see any kind of animal on your wedding day, from a bee to a blue tit, you better believe there'll be a photo of it in your wedding gallery!

Every wedding plants a tree

For every wedding I photograph, a broad-leaf native tree is planted in Dartmoor or South Devon.

I work with Moor Trees, a local independent charity who take great care in restoring Devon's natural woodland. I use nature a lot in my wedding photography, so this is my way of giving back. You will receive a certificate which confirms your tree dedication. You can even join me and the team at Moor Trees on a volunteer day. What a way to celebrate!

Key moments of the day

Every wedding is different, and no two timelines are ever the same. In our planning call, we'll discuss your own plan for the day, including noting down when all the key photo moments will be happening. Some couples skip group shots entirely, while others prioritise portraits. Some want a quiet morning, others are surrounded by friends. The moments below give a feel for how I typically photograph a full-day wedding.

Early Preparations
I arrive and begin with relaxed detail shots — your outfits, stationery, and the personal touches that make your day unique. I’ll also capture candid, natural moments as you get ready, with both partners if logistics allow.

Late Preparations
Final touches, first looks, and any solo portraits you'd like before the ceremony.

Ceremony
Unobtrusive and honest coverage throughout. I document arrivals, the ceremony itself, signing the register, your exit, and the confetti moment.

Group Photos
For ease and flow, these usually happen straight after the ceremony/confetti. I’ll gently guide this part to keep things efficient, natural, and relaxed.

Couples Session
A short, calm session (10–15 minutes) to step away together. This is more about creating some natural moments for the two of you to connect. The day will fly by, and you'll treasure these more quiet moments together.

Reception Coverage
Candid coverage of drinks, hugs, games, and all the in-between moments. I’ll be there capturing the atmosphere as it naturally unfolds.

Speeches
Once guests are seated, I photograph the speeches, the big reactions, heartfelt moments, and everything in between.

Golden Hour Couples Session
A second relaxed session during golden hour (if the light allows): a short break away from all the buzz, to breathe and just be with your partner. These are often some of my favourite images of the day.

Party
From the first dance to the chaotic dancefloor energy, I’ll stay to capture the atmosphere once the party kicks off, right up until you’ve got a gallery full of memories.
