Katie and Will had a simple idea for their wedding — to be in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by their favourite people. They brought that to life at Wild Swim 2 Sauna, a one-of-a-kind venue tucked away at Yeo Farm, right in the Devon countryside.
On the morning of their wedding day, I met them both at the farmhouse where they were staying with close family. Katie was relaxed, getting ready with her bridal party, while Ocean Waves Hair Styling and Justine Kendall helped with hair and makeup. Meanwhile, Will and his groomsmen were running around setting up the day (but still found time for a whisky toast with friends).
Their ceremony, which took place under a huge oak tree, was full of personality from start to finish. Katie arrived in a Land Rover Defender, accompanied by bridesmaids and flower men, complete with flowers in their beards. There were readings, live music from Katie’s brother, and a toast of homemade mead brewed by the couple. After the ceremony, Will’s brother hoisted a boombox and led everyone through the woods to the bar.
We paused for a few group shots in the forest, then a quiet couples shoot nearby, before heading back for the party. Guests ate under the marquee with food by Big Pan Parties, followed by speeches and the cutting of a stacked cheeseboard cake.
The venue had plenty to explore. An outdoor sauna, river, trampolines, and a bar, so there was always something happening. One of my favourite moments was Katie and Will jumping on the trampolines in full wedding gear.
As the light softened, we stepped away for a peaceful golden hour shoot. Then it was straight into the party tent, where The Retrobates kicked off the evening, followed by a rave set from Discoteca. Katie and Will changed into their rave outfits and hit the dancefloor hard, surrounded by friends. The night finished with fireworks and a lot of muddy, happy dancing.
