Bath is one of my favourite cities to photograph in, and Chris and Bethany’s spring wedding at the Guildhall showed exactly why. The soft, cinematic light, the Georgian architecture and the relaxed pace of the city created the perfect backdrop for the story of their day. As a Bath wedding photographer, I focused on keeping things natural and unobtrusive so the images felt honest and true to them.

Chris and Bethany chose the impressive Guildhall in Bath for their celebration. This iconic venue, recently featured in Bridgerton, sits right in the heart of the city between Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths.

Their ceremony took place in the Alkmaar Room, a beautiful space filled with wooden panelling and large windows that let the light pour in. Bethany walked down the aisle with her dad, with her nieces scattering petals as flower girls.

After the ceremony, we used the elegant marble steps inside the Guildhall for a few quick portraits before heading outside for a confetti exit into the busy city centre. With the midday sun creating strong light, we found some softer shade beside Bath Abbey for group photos. The ancient stone and stained glass made an ideal backdrop. One of my favourite moments was when Chris and his brother gave each of their parents a spontaneous hug. Unplanned moments like this are always the ones that stay with me.

Once the group photos turned into a relaxed catch up with family and friends, Chris and Bethany slipped away with me to Parade Gardens, a peaceful spot just around the corner. (Top tip: it’s free for newlyweds on their wedding day!)
Knowing these two felt a bit camera-shy, I encouraged them to take a walk together while I captured them from a distance. This kind of relaxed direction is key to my approach as a natural wedding photographer. As their confidence grew, we explored a few different corners of the garden, capturing gentle, affectionate moments.

The day ended at The Ivy, a stylish spot for their reception. The timeless decor paired beautifully with a delicious three-course meal and free-flowing drinks. True to their easy-going nature, Chris and Bethany skipped speeches and went straight into enjoying the evening with family and friends.

“A fantastic day which was captured so beautifully by Elliot. Beyond professional and brought out the best of a group of people who dislike having photos taken. Can’t recommend enough!”
