Charley and Jake chose Cockington Court in Devon for their November celebration, and as a Devon wedding photographer, it was the perfect setting for a day that was intimate, personal and full of personality. With just their closest family present, the whole day felt relaxed, creative and completely true to them. Small weddings have such a unique charm, especially in places with history, character and quiet corners to escape to.

Charley and Jake’s wedding was exactly what a small celebration should be: warm, relaxed and full of character. They asked everyone to wear black, creating a stylish, slightly spooky vibe. Charley stood out beautifully in a white dress with a disco-inspired top, and the contrast worked perfectly in the November light.
The ceremony took place in a quiet room at Cockington Court, and the emotion was immediate. Charley and Jake exchanged heartfelt vows, both reaching for tissues by the end. With only close family in the room, the moment felt grounded and meaningful.

After the ceremony, we took a few portraits indoors before walking to the nearby churchyard for group photos. The sun came out at just the right moment, streaming through the trees and giving us warm golden light that suited the day perfectly.

A champagne toast in the rose garden followed, and then everyone headed to The Drum Inn for a relaxed pub meal. Good food, cosy lighting and a chilled atmosphere suited the group perfectly.

Later in the afternoon, we returned to the gardens at Cockington Court for some couple portraits in the fading light. As the sun dipped lower, the whole place took on a warm, autumn glow.

That evening, Charley and Jake hosted a small reception at Charley’s family home, which had been completely transformed for a pagan-inspired celebration. Candlelight, potion-style cocktails and a fire pit set the tone. Charley changed into a black dress that matched the mystical atmosphere perfectly.

The highlight of the night was a handfasting ceremony under a full moon. Surrounded by candles and firelight, they tied the knot again in a quiet, spiritual moment that felt timeless.

We ended the day with a final set of portraits by candlelight. Soft light, cool night air and the two of them under the stars made it the perfect way to finish.

“Honestly couldn’t have asked for anything else from Elliot. We felt so comfortable and the photos are just beautiful. Would definitely recommend everyone go for the pre-wedding photoshoot as it was the best way for us to get comfortable in front of the camera, and also get to know Elliot before the big day. We love him and his work so much we’ve already booked him for our wedding part-2 next year.”
