Wedding Celebrations at Selwyn College, Cambridge
Ashwin and Tanuvi held their wedding celebrations at Selwyn College in Cambridge, returning to the place where they first studied. The combination of beautiful college architecture, golden autumn light and a relaxed dinner party atmosphere made this a lovely event to photograph as a Cambridge wedding photographer for the day.
This was their UK wedding reception after getting married abroad earlier in the year. I met them and their families in the courtyard at Selwyn College. With a tight timeline to work with, we started with group photos before taking a walk through the college grounds. It was a nostalgic moment for them, revisiting places filled with memories, and we even bumped into one of their former professors which added to the charm of the afternoon.
The weather felt like a warm summer day, but the colours were perfectly autumnal, with golden leaves and soft evening light. Before guests arrived, we took the opportunity to capture some relaxed portraits around the grounds during golden hour.
The celebration continued with a drinks reception in the Harrison Room, where guests chatted, caught up and watched the cake cutting. A string quartet played as everyone entered the Great Hall for dinner, and for a moment the setting felt almost cinematic. As speeches began, the light shifted from soft window light to warm candlelight, creating an elegant atmosphere throughout the room.
After dinner, everyone moved back to the Harrison Room for more drinks. This part of the evening was ideal for capturing candid interactions and informal group photos.
