A Wedding Party at Selwyn College, Cambridge

Selwyn College Wedding Couple

Ashwin and Tanuvi first got in touch about their wedding at a stunning château in the South of France. I was completely gutted that due to an existing booking I couldn’t photograph that part of their celebrations. Luckily, they were also hosting a dinner party back where they studied at Cambridge University, so I was delighted to be their photographer for the afternoon and create some relaxed Cambridge University wedding photography for them.

I met Tanuvi, Ashwin and their families in the beautiful courtyard of Selwyn College. We were on a tight timeline, so we started with the group photos before heading off for a walk around their old college. A nostalgic moment for them, and a lovely one to photograph. We even bumped into one of their former professors.

The weather felt like summer, but the colours were perfectly autumnal: golden leaves, warm light and crisp air. Just before their guests arrived, we made the most of the golden hour and captured some relaxed portraits around the grounds.

The afternoon continued with a short drinks reception in the Harrison Room, where guests chatted, caught up and watched the cake cutting. A string quartet played as everyone entered the Great Hall, and for a moment it really did feel like a scene from Harry Potter. Beautiful speeches followed, along with great food, and as the sun set, the room shifted from soft window light to warm candlelight. Later, everyone headed back to the Harrison Room for more drinks. This was the perfect chance for candid moments and informal group photos.

Thank you to Ashwin and Tanuvi for having me at their party in Cambridge. I love photographing weddings and events all over the UK and beyond. If you’re planning a celebration, big or small, classic or completely unique, and would like natural, story-driven photography, I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch and tell me what you’re planning.
