A Festival-Style Wedding in the South Devon Countryside

Festival-style weddings suit the south-west perfectly, especially when they unfold in wide open countryside with space to explore and celebrate. Katie and Will chose Wild Swim 2 Sauna at Yeo Farm for their day, a hidden spot surrounded by trees, fields and river pools. As a Devon wedding photographer, it was the ideal setting for a relaxed, creative celebration full of personality.

Katie and Will spent the morning at the farmhouse with close family. Katie was relaxed, getting ready with her bridal party, while Ocean Waves Hair Styling and Justine Kendall helped with hair and makeup. Will and his groomsmen spent the morning setting up the space, with just enough time for a quick whisky toast.

Their ceremony took place under a huge oak tree. Katie arrived in a Land Rover Defender with bridesmaids and “flower men,” complete with flowers in their beards. The ceremony included readings, live music from Katie’s brother and a toast of homemade mead brewed by the couple. As soon as it ended, Will’s brother hoisted a boombox and led everyone through the woods to the bar.

We paused in the forest for a few group photos, followed by a quiet couple shoot nearby before heading back for the reception. Food was served under the marquee by Big Pan Parties, followed by speeches and the cutting of a stacked cheeseboard.

Yeo Farm had plenty for guests to enjoy, including a sauna, river, trampolines and a bar, so there was always something happening. A standout moment was Katie and Will jumping on the trampolines in full wedding outfits.

As the light softened, we stepped away for a peaceful golden hour session, then headed straight into the party tent. The Retrobates kicked off the evening, followed by a rave set from Discoteca. Katie and Will changed into their rave outfits, filled the dancefloor and ended the night with fireworks and muddy, happy dancing.

“Elliot is the perfect wedding photographer. We cannot recommend Elliot highly enough. We found Elliot because he was local to our venue . This was a huge stroke of luck but we would highly recommend him regardless of your wedding location.

Elliot is modern, slick and professional but he also has a warm and friendly demeanour. He fitted in seamlessly and captured some wonderfully candid shots as a result.

Elliot’s pricing is also very good value – some photographers we looked at were attempting to charge twice as much for a similar package (and, in our opinion, Elliot’s photos were much better)!

We also recommend opting for the ‘Party Cameras’ add-on package. These were great fun, kept people off their phones and were a huge hit with the older children! More importantly it meant we had some brilliant photos to look at within 24 hours! Thank you so much Elliot!!”
