An Outdoor Woodland Wedding in The Cornwall Countryside

“We couldn’t be more happy with Elliot as our wedding photographer. He truly exceeded our expectations, capturing the magic of our woodland wedding in the most beautiful way. He captured the energy of the day perfectly. Every image is a treasured memory!”

– Nicola and Tom

Nicola and Tom’s wedding wasn’t just a one-day event – it was a full weekend of love, community, and muddy boots. Held at Sconner Down, a beautiful woodland venue in Cornwall, the whole celebration felt like it was built around their adventurous, laid-back personalities.

Most guests, including the couple, stayed in campervans on-site. The morning of the wedding was calm and communal. Family and friends pitched in to decorate the venue, arrange flowers, sort out the music, and bring the whole thing to life. No wedding planners, no pressure – just a bunch of people coming together to make something meaningful. The campsite buzzed with anticipation, but everything stayed relaxed.

This kind of collaborative spirit suits documentary style wedding photography so well. Nothing was overly polished or staged – just people doing what they love, for the people they love.

One of the most emotional parts of the day was Nicola and Tom’s first look photos. We found a quiet spot in the woods, where they stood on either side of a tree, reaching out to hold hands before seeing each other for the first time. It was simple but powerful — exactly the kind of moment I love to capture.

Their ceremony took place deeper in the forest. A close friend of theirs acted as celebrant, making it feel personal and rooted in connection. The setting couldn’t have been better. With sunlight filtering through the trees and everyone gathered around, it felt more like a story unfolding than a formal event.

Afterwards, we stayed in the woods for some natural group portraits – a mix of relaxed, candid shots and a few more composed ones.

Afterwards, we stayed in the woodland for group photos. The celebration then continued with cocktails and garden games, followed by an open mic session. The performances by Nicola and Tom’s talented friends added a personal touch.

Back at the clearing, the celebrations kicked off with cocktails and garden games, followed by an open mic session where their friends performed music and shared stories. Every part of the day felt personal and heartfelt.

As the sun went down, the party ramped up. The dancefloor was packed, the atmosphere electric, and the ski shot, was one of the funnier highlights of the night.

Nicola and Tom’s wedding at Sconner Down was a celebration of love, friendship, and community. It was an honour to be a part of their special day, and I’m thrilled to have captured the moments that made it unforgettable.
