Charley and Jake’s wedding was exactly what a small celebration should be — personal, relaxed, and full of character. Held on a crisp November day at Cockington Court in Devon, they invited just their closest family to witness a day that was elegant, fun, and a little bit magical.
The couple asked everyone to wear all black, creating a stylish, slightly spooky vibe. Of course, Charley stood out beautifully in a white dress with a disco-inspired top! This kind of creativity is what I love most as a documentary wedding photographer — when couples fully embrace their personalities and make the day their own.
The ceremony took place in an intimate room at Cockington Court, and you could feel the emotion in the air. Charley and Jake exchanged heartfelt vows, both reaching for tissues by the end. With only close family present, the moment felt real and grounded.
Next stop was Truro Registry Office, where Benji waited with close friends and family. There was just enough nervous energy to make it feel real.
Leah arrived looking amazing in a warm-toned dress that perfectly suited the season. Their intimate ceremony was full of feeling—simple, sincere, and clearly meaningful to everyone in the room. Afterwards, we stepped outside into the venue’s gardens for a few relaxed group photos. Lots of smiles and hugs, with everyone soaking up the November sun.
Before the day, I worked with Leah and Benji to build a wedding itinerary that was anything but traditional. After the ceremony, they jumped into their Land Rover Discovery, and I followed in my slightly less adventurous VW Golf. First stop: a woodland near St Austell, where the trees were full of autumn colour. They swapped dress shoes for walking boots and embraced the adventure!
From there, we headed get some wedding portraits on a secluded beach. The storm from the day before had left behind huge, crashing waves and dramatic skies. We had the whole place to ourselves, which made the moment feel even more surreal.
I climbed a nearby cliff to get some wide shots of the landscape, then got down onto the beach for a mix of artistic portraits and natural, close-up moments.
As the light started to fade, we made our way to Rebellion Roast House in Charlestown. The venue was glowing with candlelight and decorated with beautiful florals. It felt cosy and full of personality.
Dinner was followed by live music, speeches, and dancing. There was so much warmth in the room. From big, emotional moments to little interactions between friends, the evening was full of joy.
